Consultation – $50/hr

I can analyze the work you have done thus far and make suggestions for your future research (documentary or DNA-based).

I can work with you on various DNA-based techniques such as the Leeds Method for sorting matches, understanding the Shared cM Project, how to use WATO, how to use DNA Painter, etc.

Research – $50/hr

Project based. If you have a family history question that you’ve been unable to answer, we can work together to craft an appropriate research objective. Then, you can commission me to work on it in 10 or 20 hour chunks. This includes my time for analysis of work done to date, creating a research plan, and the writing of a final report for you. We will sign a contract and you will provide a retainer fee prior to work commencing. Final payment is due upon receipt of the final report.

Service-based. If you just need some DNA match analysis work, we do not need to sign a contract and you will be charged for actual time spent. Examples:

• Leeds method analysis of matches in the 90-400 cM – time estimate depends on number of matches; usually less than 1 hour, sometimes as little as 20 minutes.
• Network Graphing of Ancestry matches – usually about 2 hours. You will receive a csv file of grouped matches and an image of the graph with the networks individually numbered and color coded.

Presentations – sliding scale

I give presentations to local genealogical societies in Oregon about how DNA is used in genealogical research, how to get started with DNA testing, and an overviews of various techniques used by genetic genealogists. Please contact me for more information.
